FAQ: How Does CyberKnife Track My Tumor?
One of the most common questions we hear during a patient’s first visit to our center is “How is the CyberKnife® so accurate?”
The CyberKnife continually monitors the location of your tumor during treatment. Its advanced imaging and tracking system constantly updates the tumor location throughout the treatment session. The technology is highly accurate because it compensates for normal patient movements like breathing. This ensures the radiation beams are targeting the tumor during treatment, allowing our physicians to treat difficult-to-reach tumors that may have been impossible to treat in the past. By precisely targeting and delivering high-dose radiation from multiple angles, CyberKnife also significantly reduces treatment time for the patient and minimizes radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.
Please feel free to contact us to find out if you are a candidate for CyberKnife treatment or if you have any questions about the treatment.
